So you’ve got a dog that’s a little obsessed with playing fetch. But you can’t play the game all day long, and that’s exactly where the iFetch comes in! Perfect for indoor and outdoor use, this smart little machine was designed to help satisfy even the most fetch-crazed dog, and it also brings in a fun new twist to this classic game.
What is the iFetch?
In short, it’s a smart device that allows you to play a game of fetch with your pooch without you having to actively participate. The interactive ball launcher looks a lot like a tennis ball launcher, but this doggie version is just a lot smaller and was built with the modern-day pet in mind.
How does it work?
This little gadget is fully automated, so it launches the balls one after the other and leaves your pet free to chase after them. If your dog is smart enough to return the mini balls to the special ball slot, it’ll just start relaunching30-foot. Of course we kind of wish the device had a suction device that retrieved the balls that don’t land in the slot after they’ve been fetched, but we suppose that’s a little too far-fetched.
The iFetch can be programmed to shoot the ball out to one of three distance settings. The first distance is 10 feet (3 meters), which ideal for indoor play. Then there’s a 20-foot setting (6 meters) as well as a 30-foot setting (9 meters), which works well for outdoor play. You’d probably be able to throw it further by yourself, but the fact that this dingy does all the work for you is a big plus in itself.
We suppose we can’t have it all
The only beef we have with the iFetch is the mini tennis balls it shoots out. Some dog breeds will outright demolish these little things, so if your pooch has a knack for chewing things, best of luck. The balls aren’t as durable as real tennis balls, so you might need to stock up on extra balls if you want to keep your pet entertained.
Final word
Even though we’re not super happy with the quality of the iFetch balls, the interactive ball launcher is probably one of the best toys we’ve come across in a long time. If you’ve got a hyperactive dog that loves to play fetch, this could be the best thing since doggy treats!
These interactive toys can be bought online through stores like Takealot.com and prices start at around R2,199 for the device and three mini balls.
