A lot of folks think that cleaning a fish tank is a mission of note, but by using the Petz tips and tricks, you can get it done in no time at all!
We recommend cleaning a fish tank once a week since it helps keep fish healthy and also keeps the tank looking appealing. It’s super relaxing to watch your fish swim around, but that’s hard to do when you can barely see inside the tank. Not sure where to start? Here’s some advice
Tips for easily cleaning a fish tank
1. Start by unplugging the tank
You need to make sure that everything electrical is unplugged before you start the cleaning process. You don’t want to accidentally electrocute yourself.
2. Get the fish out of the water
You’re going to move your fish from the tank to a temporary container while cleaning a fish tank. Gently do this with your net, and don’t try to do it in bulk. Move the fish, one by one, from the tank to the container, ensuring that the water inside the container is exactly the same as the water in the tank.
3. Grab the siphoning pipe
You need to open the lid and insert a siphoning pipe in order to get all the water out of the tank. The goal here is to try and get rid of as much of the dirty water and bacteria as possible. Once you’re done, discard the dirty water.
4. Clean it like you mean it!
All you need to use here is some clean water and a sponge. Be sure to remove the filter sponge, filter grid, and the carbon pack and clean them separately in some clean water. Once you’ve cleaned everything, replace all the equipment in the tank and fill the tank with clean water again.
5. Add dechlorinating agent
Keeping the product specs in mind, add some dechlorinating agent to the fresh water and plug all the electrical equipment back in. Once the water has been stabilised at the ideal temperature, it’s safe to move your fish back to their tank.
