The prestigious Animal Talk “Top Dog” Veterinary Excellence Award for 2017 was awarded to a Hartbeespoort veterinarian, Dr Le-anne Kleynhans, owner of the Bromhof Veterinary Clinic.

Dr Le-anne received the award for various reasons which included veterinary excellence, her love and compassion for animals and the large amount of community and welfare projects she is involved in.

As the owner of both the Broederstroom Veterinary Clinic in Hartbeespoort Dam and the Bromhof Veterinary Clinic in Randburg, she works incredibly hard and dedicates personal resources and time to community projects such as working with Animal Allies to treat and sterilise dogs and cats in Katlehong and Zandspruit. Together they have sterilised over 600 animals in the last two years, all at no charge to the public. She also does work for Boston Terrier Rescue and Border Collie Rescue. Once a year, she takes a team to a remote area of Lesotho for an outreach project to treat animals and do veterinary work as well as support a local orphanage there. She is also involved in the management of a team in the process of establishing a village in Lanseria for orphaned and vulnerable children.

Dr Le-anne and the Bromhof Veterinary Clinic team have also recently started a partnership with the Vulture Rescue centre, VulPro and do surgical repairs on wing and leg fractures, giving the vultures a chance to be released into the wild again
