Established in 1954, Howick Veterinary Clinic has been dedicated to the welfare of the livestock industry of the KZN province for nearly 60 years. With a team of currently 8 veterinarians, a pharmacist and 18 administerial, support and managerial staff devoted to farm animal work we provide a 24 hour, 365 day a year service. Our office and retail centre is based in Howick, a branch clinic in Ixopo and a retail premises in Nottingham road. The retail side provides an extensive range of animal health products at competitive prices.
Our focus is based on herd health preventative medicine with programmes tailored to each farmer’s individual needs.

Vaccination, parasite control, reproductive performance and nutritional health of the herd / flock / stud are all essential components of a profitable livestock production system.Our team of 8 vets has extensive experience in all of these aspects and can make a huge contribution to the profitability of your business.
Specialist reproductive services such as embryo transfer, semen collection evaluation and freezing, laparoscopic AI and ultrasound scanning are also offered.
Meet the Team
Dr. Adrian Gordon. BVSc, BCom(hons).
Adrian brings years of invaluable experience in herd health, nutrition and financial management to the practice and to the farmer, with an emphasis on dairy herd fertility and health.
Dr. Edgar Ortmann. BVSc.
Edgars field of interest is pig herd health and performance in some of the top piggeries in the country with an emphasis on preventative medicine, housing, feeding and disease control. He also provides vet services to dairies and emergency calls.
Dr. Andy Lund. BVSc.
Andy has a special interest in the reproductive management of dairy herds, horses and herd preventative medicine and surgery.
Dr. Jon Alison. BVSc.
Jon provides dairy and beef herd veterinary services including routine fertility and emergency work. He also covers the wildlife capture and management side of the practice.
Dr. Steve Hughes. BVSc. MMedVet (Ther).
Our specialist vet in animal reproduction, Steves thorough and scientific approach to problems is a huge asset to the practice. From embryo transfer, to semen collection and freezing, Steve offers the latest developments in reproduction to our farming clientelle.
Dr. Greg Taylor BVSc.
Greg is our “emergency call” veterinarian based in Howick. He started with us in January 2013 and his essential service covers a wide range of farm animal calls from calvings to disease outbreaks.
Dr. Gareth Myles BSc. BVSc.
Gareth has taken over the running of our Creighton / Ixopo branch and is therefore kept very busy with herd health and emergency work in addition to the administrative demands of an intensive farming area.
Dr. Lauren Williams BSc. BVSc.
Lauren covers the pet side of the Two Rivers practice as well as helping Gareth with the extra farm animal work. She is in the process of helping us upgrade our small animal premises and service to the local pet owners.
