Hayfields Veterinary Hospital is a purpose built facility and is one of only a few registered veterinary hospitals in KZN.

Our hospital includes a dedicated operating theatre, climate controlled kennels, a basic laboratory, xray and ultrasound facilities.
Consultations run throughout the day and are booked on an appointment basis. Emergencies are seen as soon as possible and we endeavour to have a vet on duty throughout the day. After hours is shared between clinics in the area and the on call vet can be contacted by phoning the surgery.

We boast a modern range of diagnostic tools and treatments, all within a purpose built veterinary hospital where your pet will receive top quality care.

Meet the Hayfields Veterinary Hospital team
Dr Derek Clover
He took over ownership of Hayfields Vet in February 2014. He qualified from Onderstepoort in 2007 and went on to practice in England for three years. There, as well as practising general companion animal medicine, he gained valuable experience in treating the ‘small furries’ such as rats, guinea pigs, rabbits and chinchillas. On his return he practised in the Natal Midlands prior to moving to Hayfields.
Dr Greg Mills
Dr Mills is one of the founding owners of Hayfields Veterinary Hospital which was established in 1985. Over the years he has gathered a loyal following from all over Pietermaritzburg. Dr Mills is an extremely competent Veterinary Surgeon with many years of experience to draw from.
Dr Andrea Paul
After qualifying from Onderstepoort in 2014,Dr Andrea Paul moved to Wartburg where she now lives with her husband. In addition to working part time at Hayfields Vet, Dr Paul also runs a small animal consulting room in Wartburg. She is a dedicated and compassionate vet who always puts her patient’s needs first.
Dr Adriaan Adank
Dr Adank qualified from Onderstepoort  in 2010 and there after practiced in Namibia for 8 years and joined Hayfields Vet in 2018.  Adriaan is happy seeing all creatures great and small and has a special interest in surgery. We are sure that you will appreciate the high level of veterinary care that Dr Adank will provide your pets.
Sr Leslie Shooter
Leslie Shooter qualified in Canada. Leslie assists the vets in theater, maintains and monitors anesthetics. She is also the radiographer, hospital nurse and pharmacy manager. Leslie runs weight loss clinics and is available to answer general questions on behavior, diet, parasite control and general pet health.
