Franschhoek Animal Clinic is part of WAHG, the Wellington Animal Hospital Group.

Wellington Animal Hospital Group was established in 1967. The practice has grown from a small start up to the second largest group of veterinarians in the Western Cape. The practice has a proud history of outstanding and highly professional service combined with a distinctly rural friendliness creating the platform on which our love and passion for pets, horses and production animals are build. Each person involved in the practice, whether vet, nurse, receptionist, administrative officer or general worker has a great common denominator, and it is our love and passion for our patients and clients.

Here each vet are allowed to live out and focus on his / her passion in the vet industry. This means that the group are able to offer a wide range of services; besides the exceptional pet skills we also offer specialized services for horses, exotic animals and wildlife.

The traditional functions of vets are not left behind, even herd health and management are not neglected and we provide a very important service in the food chain of South Africa involving the design and set up of health programs, fertility management, general healing and nutrition of our production animals.

The WAHG team is well equipped and motivated to our customers’ needs to ensure a satisfied and returning customer.

WAHG’s dedicated, specialist equine vets are available for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This ensures timeous and efficient treatment of all patients.

We offer a specialised breeding service. This includes all steps from ultrasound to artificial insemination of mares to ensure optimal pregnancy rates. Embryo extraction and transplant procedures have already been very succesfully performed and more of these procedures are planned for the future.

We have a fully equipped equine theatre where specialised surgical procedures are performed. We also offer arthroscopical procedures and make use of specialist surgeons for complicated cases.

Our portable digital x-ray and ultrasound equipment ensures quick and accurate diagnoses in the patient’s own home environment. This ensures a much calmer patient.

Our equine vets offer a lot of their private time over weekends to offer veterinary support at various equine sport disciplines in order to ensure the well-being of these horses.
