Durbanville Animal Hospital is proud to be a part of the Vets Who Care Group.

Durbanville Animal Hospital was founded in 1986 by Dr Ivan Mendelsohn with Michael Mpushe as his assistant. What started off as a small personal practice in Valmary Park steadily grew into a 2 hospital, 5 veterinarian practice. Dr Mendelsohn retired in 2016, after 30 years of dedication to the practice. Nowadays, our Durbanville hospital has 3 veterinarians, 2 nurses, 2 receptionists and 2 kennel assistants. Our highly motivated and caring team strive to deliver an outstanding level of veterinary care.

We’re a group of dedicated professionals devoted to the health and wellbeing of the pets in our community.

Our two animal hospitals are known for their outstanding veterinary care, diagnostics, medicine and surgery, as well as expert emergency care.

Our shop, The Corner Vetshop, offers a wide range of premium food, accessories and healthcare products to keep your furry friends happy and healthy.

Dr Elzette Rossouw – Veterinarian
I am the mother of 2 cats and 2 unruly Jack Russells. I have been with the team since 2007 and despite all the grey hair gained I love the privilege of really getting to know my patients and walking the road with them.

Dr Alet Engelbrecht – Veterinarian
After qualifying in 2003, I worked in the UK for 8 years, gaining valuable experience in veterinary science, as well as pursuing my love for backpacking and travelling. I have a cheeky cat, Winnie, and enjoy cooking, hiking and reading in my free time.

Dr. Virginia Samiec – Veterinarian

Sr Janet – Vet Nurse
I have been an animal lover, especially dogs, all my life. I currently have 4 little dogs, 2 girls and 2 boys, known as 'The Banger Boys' and the 'Ya-Ya Sisterhood'. I qualified 30 years ago and have experience in welfare and private practice. I love my job as much today as when I first qualified.

Sr Mickey – Vet Nurse
I graduated as a veterinary nurse from Onderstepoort in 2013. My wife and I currently have a full house of rescues with two beautiful cats and three energetic dogs. Patient care is the favourite part of my job. I enjoy seeing our patients relax and feel comfortable in our hospital.
